Insitu spray is usually done in site works. |
Polyurethane foam is sprayed by machine on the surface to be insulated to the required thickness.
INSITU Pour – PU material is injected into the chamber or to the sandwich surfaces, like in side freezers refrigerators storage tanks etc.

| PU Foam: |
Polyurethane foam is formed by RIM process by a High pressure dispensing machine. Two chemicals are injected into any cavity, chemical reaction takes place and the 2 components reacts and foams itself occupying the cavity. (RIM : Reaction Injection Moulding). |
| |
| Pipe line Insulation by Pu insitu foaming: |
The Pipe line is cleaned, primer coated, and Cladding is done onto the pipe leaving the required gap (insulation thickness) by providing PUF spacer blocks at required intervals. Holes (6-8mm) are made on the cladding surface.
The total area to be insulated are cladded in a regular method. Stage by stage
PU chemical are injected inside the cavity (gap) PU foams itself inside the cavity. Injection is done thro’ the hole made checking the filled areas. This way the complete pipe line are injected.
The seaped of foam thro the small gaps in the joints are scraped off. The holes made are sealed off by sealants

Technical Benefits : |
- There is no need of Bitumen heating / Fire / accidental burns etc.
- There would be no air gap or joints ( continuous insulation) No sweating or water entering
- No need for vapour barriers since there will be no air or moisture absorption. Vapour barriers are mainly provided to arrest the air with moisture entry through the joint even though it is sealed by bitumen.
- This type of insitu foaming are mostly done for Pharmaceutical and Chemical Plants involving very low - 20 degree temperatures. With just 50mm thickness of insulation. Thickness is increased for too low temperatures of – 45 to – 85 deg.
- Technically & Practically it is proven

| |
| Cost benefits: |
- PU pipe sections manufactured attracts Central Excise Duty, but when it is cast insitu at the site on line, it does not attract Ex Duty saving the duty factor.
- Manufacturing time of the PU Pipe sections, needs more time to manufacture huge volumes
- Transportation of volumetric materials to distant places attracts transportation cost, this is reduced to very minimum of transporting up and down of machine and sending the chemicals in one time.
- Transit damages and pilferages/cutting wastes (need 5 –10% extra rmt of pipesections) Works contract job at site involves only the taxes for chemicals, Pipe section attracts Taxes on the cost for the finished product.
|
| |
| Advantages: |
- PU material seapage at the cladding joints to be cleaned but it acts as a sealing agent at the joints as it pears itself from inside through the joints and arrest the gaps.
- It will look as same as the regular cladding type but this would be tough on the surface as foam will be occupying the whole of the inside of the cladding. you can even walk on it and will not dent or deform
- Saves time for completion. Neat finish, no cladding damage after finishing as it is tough on surface.
|
| |
| Disadvantages: |
- Cladding Aluminum material should be of higher thickness 24swg or 22 swg, marginally
adds to the cost of cladding material.
